About Sebenzi

The concept of Sebenzi was developed out of frustration with existing recruitment methods. On the one hand, recruitment agencies are charging considerable amounts for candidate placements and have a monopoly on access to CV databases. On the other hand, candidates’ personal details are sometimes being shared publicly, often without their knowledge or consent.

Sebenzi was conceptualised to address this situation in the market and was launched in January 2010 after 2 years of development.

Sebenzi is looking to change the power balance in the recruitment market by giving control back to both candidates and employers. Candidates can choose which of their details are visible without prior consent, thereby allowing them to remain in the job market even if employed. Employers are not required to pay considerable commission fees to recruitment agents and are only charged once they have found a suitable CV.

Sebenzi is a division of Mindvate (Pty) Ltd, of which Lima Bean and Mail Blaze are other notable divisions.
